To See the world as a grain of sand
And heaven as a wildflower
William Blake

EXCERPT July 10, 2008
MUSK MALLOW Malva moschata
Musk Mallow is a beautiful plant. The rose-coloured flowers appear to be cut from a delicate fabric, complete with folds and creases. …..Although it is difficult to verify the medicinal uses and the edibility of musk mallow, some sources indicate that the young leaves are used as salad greens.

Laurentian Wildflowers has been out of print since 2013 but there are some editions available on Amazon.

An account of stewardship at Lac Brûlé over the past one hundred years.

The pages of this book speak of individuals and groups who, in times of need, stepped to the fore and adopted freely the mantle of stewardship. But the motivation was not only stewardship in its grandest sense. These stewards were consciously working to preserve and protect the natural world that inspired them. They recognized and understood, as did Henry Beston, when in 1928 her wrote:

Nature is part of our humanity, and without some awareness
and experience of that divine mystery man ceases to be man.
